Riseward Terms of Service
Last updated: 24 October 2026
1. Who we are and acceptance
The Riseward service ("Service"), made up of the iPhone and Android app ("App") and its servers, is provided by Giuseppina Dendena, Via Lago Gerundo 27, 26010 Casaletto Ceredano (CR), Italy, email [email protected] ("we").
By creating an account and selecting "I accept the Terms of Service" you accept these Terms. Personal data processing is described in the Privacy Policy. If you do not accept these Terms you may not use the Service.
2. The Service
Riseward is a training coach for amateur runners, cyclists, swimmers, triathletes and HYROX athletes. In particular, it: - generates a training plan towards a goal race (an overall plan and detailed 2-week blocks), using planning rules, a workout library and an artificial intelligence model; - computes personal zones, race predictions and a race-day plan from the data you enter; - proposes adaptations to the plan on request, which apply only if you accept them; - answers training questions through "Ask the coach", based on a collection of cards with scientific sources; - measures adherence to the plan from activities you log or import, on the phone, from Apple Health or Health Connect; - shows an indicative daily readiness computed on the phone (see §3); - sends sessions to Apple Watch and the calendar, and guides sessions with a timer.
AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable for your situation. Use it critically.
We may change, add or remove features to improve the Service, for technical or security reasons, or to comply with the law. Changes cost you nothing extra. If a change materially reduces the features included in the subscription, we will notify you at least 30 days in advance: you may cancel the subscription and, if you ask us within 30 days of the change, we will refund the part already paid and not used (Art. 135-octiesdecies Consumer Code).
3. Not medical advice. Not a medical device.
Riseward does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment and is not a medical device within the meaning of Regulation (EU) 2017/745. Plans, sessions, zones, predictions, race plan (including carbohydrates, fluids and sodium), coach answers and the "readiness" colour are general sports training information, not health guidance.
- Readiness (green, yellow, red) is an indicative estimate based on simple rules applied to HRV, sleep and resting heart rate read from your devices. It does not measure or detect any health condition, may be wrong, and must not be used for medical decisions.
- The Service does not take illnesses, injuries, pregnancy, medication or other health conditions into account: it neither asks for nor accepts them. Questions on these topics always receive a recommendation to see a doctor.
- Before starting a training programme, and especially if you have medical conditions or injuries, are pregnant, are over 35 or have been inactive for a long time, consult a doctor. In Italy, competitive sport requires a medical certificate of fitness for competitive sport: Riseward does not replace it.
- Stop exercising immediately and seek medical help if you experience chest pain, unusual shortness of breath, dizziness, fainting, palpitations, acute pain or any other worrying symptom. In an emergency call 112.
4. Your responsibilities and the risks of physical activity
Physical activity, especially at high intensity, for long durations, in the heat, at altitude or in open water, carries inherent risks of injury and, rarely, of serious events. By using the Service you agree to: - judge for yourself whether a session suits how you feel that day, and adapt or skip it when needed; the Service's guidance does not replace your judgement or that of a doctor or qualified coach; - enter accurate, up-to-date data (thresholds, results, availability): wrong data produces unsuitable plans; - follow safety rules: traffic rules when cycling and running, open-water swimming only in supervised areas or accompanied, hydration and heat protection, correct use of gym equipment and loads; - not use the App in a way that distracts you while driving, cycling or running in traffic.
5. Account
- You must be at least 18 years old. An account is personal and corresponds to a single athlete.
- Registration with email and password (at least 10 characters); signing in requires email verification.
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. Tell us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised use; you can also sign out of all devices from the App.
- Deletion: you can delete your account at any time in the App (Settings → Account → Delete account). Deletion is permanent; on Android it also cancels the Google Play subscription, while the Apple subscription must be cancelled separately because Apple does not allow apps to do it (§6).
- We may suspend or close an account in case of a serious breach of these Terms (§7), with notice where possible and except in urgent cases or where required by law. If we close an account or the Service for reasons that do not depend on you, we will notify you at least 30 days in advance (except in urgent cases) and refund the part of the subscription already paid and not used.
6. Subscription, price and payments
6.1 What is free and what is paid
- Always free: account, profile, viewing the plan, logging workouts, adherence, predictions and race plan, "Lighten the session", integrations.
- Free version: without a subscription the plan shows the first 8 weeks and you can add at most one intermediate race. During the free month (§6.3) you can request up to 3 changes to the plan; afterwards, new blocks, changes and "Ask the coach" require a subscription, and you can create at most one new plan every 4 weeks.
- With a subscription (full version): the whole plan, new blocks, changes and "Ask the coach" without these limits, plus the backup on Riseward systems if you turn it on.
6.2 Free launch
Until 31 July 2027 the full version of the App is free for everyone, with no subscription or payment details. We will tell you in the App before the launch ends; afterwards the terms below apply and no subscription starts unless you buy it.
6.3 Free month
- When you create a new plan you get 30 free days from the plan's start date, with the limits of the free version. You do not have to buy anything or enter payment details: if you do not subscribe by the end of the month you pay nothing and the paid features stop.
- The free month is available at most once every 12 months per user, even if you delete the account and register again with the same email address or the same subscription.
- On iPhone, if you subscribe while you are entitled to the free month, Apple may apply it as an offer on the subscription: in that case the first charge occurs at the end of the free month, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. The price and the date of the first charge are shown before you confirm.
6.4 Price, renewal and cancellation
- €5.00 per month, VAT included, with an auto-renewing monthly subscription. It can be bought only in the App, through Apple (iPhone) or Google Play (Android) in-app purchase. Outside the euro area the price in local currency shown by the store before purchase applies.
- Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account at confirmation. The subscription renews every month at the same price until you cancel it; to avoid renewal, cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You need the subscription only while you have an active plan, but it does not stop by itself. When the goal race has passed or you close the plan, the App tells you and takes you to the page to cancel the renewal. Neither we nor the App can cancel it for you, except on Android when you delete the account (§5).
- You can cancel at any time: on iPhone in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions; on Android in Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid.
- If we change the price we will notify you in advance. Apple and Google ask for your consent where their rules require it, and you can always cancel before the new price applies.
6.5 Withdrawal and refunds
- Purchases are made through Apple or Google, which handle them as resellers under their own terms.
- Withdrawal within 14 days. If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the purchase of the subscription within 14 days, without giving a reason:
- on iPhone by requesting a refund from Apple at https://reportaproblem.apple.com;
- on Android from your Google Play order history or by writing to [email protected]: in that case we issue the refund through Google Play.
- In other cases refunds follow Apple's and Google's terms, except as provided in §2 and §5.
- Your statutory rights regarding conformity of digital content and services (Arts. 135-octies et seq. Consumer Code) are unaffected.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to: - use the Service for unlawful purposes or on behalf of others without authorisation, or resell or sublicense the Service; - attempt to access other people's accounts or data, circumvent usage limits, security controls or payments, or interfere with the servers; - reverse engineer the App or servers, except as permitted by law; - scrape the workout library, knowledge-base cards or generated content; - enter in text fields (names, notes, coach requests) unlawful or offensive content, third parties' personal data, or instructions intended to manipulate the AI model (prompt injection); - use the Service's content to train artificial intelligence models.
8. Intellectual property and third-party content
- The App, software, design, texts, generated plans, workout library and knowledge base belong to Giuseppina Dendena or her licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on devices you own or control, also in accordance with the rules of the store you downloaded it from (§12).
- Data you enter remains yours. You grant us the right to process it only to provide the Service, as described in the Privacy Policy.
- Openly licensed third-party content. Some workouts and programmes in the library are adapted from third-party works, with texts rewritten by us and attribution given in each workout's sources and on the App's Licenses & sources page. In particular:
- Zoned (github.com/alarboulletmarin/zoned), © 2026 alarboulletmarin, MIT licence;
- zwift-workouts by Robin Ingelbrecht (github.com/robiningelbrecht/zwift-workouts), © 2026 Robin Ingelbrecht, MIT licence;
- open-access scientific papers licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0), e.g. Kristoffersen et al. 2019, Frontiers in Physiology (doi:10.3389/fphys.2019.01132), with authors, title, journal and DOI given in each workout; changes made by us;
- NHS Couch to 5K (weekly structure only, adapted): Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. The Service is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NHS;
- U.S. Army FM 7-22 / H2F, a U.S. Government work in the public domain; no endorsement by the Department of Defense.
- The texts of the MIT, CC BY 4.0 and OGL v3.0 licences are reproduced in the App. Licences of the App's open-source software components are available on the same page.
- "Ask the coach" cards cite scientific sources (authors, year, DOI) for reference; citations do not imply endorsement by the authors.
- Third-party trademarks. Apple, Apple Watch and Apple Health/HealthKit are trademarks of Apple Inc.; Google, Google Play, Android and Health Connect are trademarks of Google LLC; HYROX is a trademark of its respective owners. Riseward is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by them.
9. Third-party services
Integrations with Apple Health, Health Connect, Apple Watch and Calendar are optional and also governed by those providers' terms. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy or changes of these services; an integration may stop working if the provider changes its API or revokes access.
10. Service availability
We do our best to keep the Service available, but there may be interruptions for maintenance, failures or overload (for example, AI generation may be temporarily unavailable, in which case the plan is generated with deterministic rules). Some features have usage limits to prevent abuse.
11. Liability
- We are liable within the limits set by law. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, for personal injury caused by our fault, or any consumer rights that cannot be waived by law.
- Subject to the above, we are not liable for damage resulting from: use of the Service contrary to these Terms or to the warnings in §3 and §4; inaccurate data entered by the user; decisions taken without consulting a doctor when advised; malfunctions of third-party services (Apple, Google, network, device); force majeure.
- AI-generated content and estimates (zones, predictions, readiness) are provided "as is" for training information purposes, with no guarantee of sporting results.
12. App Store and Google Play
- If you download the App from the App Store, its use is also governed by Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/), which these Terms supplement. The agreement is between you and Giuseppina Dendena, not Apple: Apple is not responsible for the App or its support.
- If you download it from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply. Google is not responsible for the App or its support.
13. Changes to the Terms
We may change these Terms for valid reasons (new features, legal or technical changes). We will notify you in the App or by email at least 30 days before changes take effect. If you do not accept them you may cancel the subscription and delete the account; continuing to use the Service after the effective date means you accept them. Price changes follow §6.4.
14. Governing law and disputes
- These Terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer resident in another EU country, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country.
- For disputes with consumers, the court of the consumer's place of residence or domicile has jurisdiction (Art. 66-bis Consumer Code). For non-consumer users: courts of Cremona (Italy).
- You can contact us at [email protected] to seek an amicable solution. We do not participate in a specific alternative dispute resolution (ADR) body; the ADR bodies and mediation provided by law remain available to you.
15. Final provisions
If a clause is held invalid, the others remain valid. Failure to exercise a right does not constitute a waiver. In case of differences between the Italian and English versions, the Italian version prevails.
